HUGS & TREATS – OCTOBER 31ST

Halloween is an odd mixture of creepy creatures, costume parties, and harvest festivals. It is a confusing holiday for Christians.
Should parents encourage the celebration of a holiday that traces its roots to pagan practices and beliefs?
The challenge for Christian parents is to teach children to use this holiday to celebrate God’s victory over evil & evil spirits!
~ Harold Myra (copied)

On October 31stwe are going to have a celebration of our own. It is called “HUGS & TREATS”. Each classroom goes around the center to the other classrooms and offices and trades “hugs” for

“Treats”!!!
Please bring your children to school dressed in their favorite costume on that day (no witches, ghosts, goblins, monsters, power rangers, ninja turtles, etc.)

We have candy bags for each child so you will not need to bring anything for that. This is our annual celebration where the kids and staff get to dress up, get candy, and not to mention, have a great time!!
Please bring your children to school already in their costume so the teachers do not need to change them all. Teachers and staff will be dressed up as well J

It will be a fun day with lots of laughter. If you do not wish for your child to participate, please let us know!

WELCOME NEW FAMILIES

We would like to take a moment to welcome all of our new families and introduce them to all of you.

Whenever you see them, please say hello and welcome them to the Woodlawn “Family”. Help them to adjust and make their transition as painless as possible!!

WELCOME ABOARD:

WINTER CLOTHING IN CUBBIES

Also, remember that many children out grow the clothes that are in the cubby, so for some children it is a good idea to periodically check and update their clothing.

With the winter months soon approaching it is now time to update your child’s cubby. You will need to bring in 2 extra complete changes of winter clothing. Please make sure you have 2 of everything (pants, shirts, socks, etc.) and for

children that are potty training, you may want to bring in 3 changes and don’t forget extra underwear.
It is also helpful for some to leave an extra jacket in the cubby on those days that you may forget. This way your child will be warm enough to go out and play with their class.

ST. JUDE TRIKE – A - THON

Every year, our Pre-K classrooms participate with St. Jude Children’s Hospital in a Trike-A-Thon raising money to help children with cancer. The children accept pledges from family and friends and they ride their bikes through a course set up in the marked off parking lot and learn about bike safety.

Woodlawn began our participation in 2001, and since our families (Like you) have helped us to raise over $3,000 and help 3 families from the
Charlotte area. This is an exceptional experience for your children to be a part of and they get an opportunity to learn about helping

others.

We wanted to thank our 5 families that helped us raise $269.00 in pledges this year…GREAT JOB!!!!
